On Friday, April 13, 2007...
The weekend will begin on Friday and end on…Thursday!
Join Latitude as they head to the Caribbean for 5 days/nights of
“sun, sand and sea”.
Since 1996, Latitude, the husband/wife duo, Tom and Michelle Becker,
has been keeping the music flowing and the Conga Line going, with
their unique blend of Tropical, Beach, Dance & Party Favorites.
A favorite among Jimmy Buffett Parrot-Heads, Baby Boomers and “Children
of All Ages”. Latitude has played in 17 states, (including
Hawaii), Europe and the Caribbean. Artists they have worked with
include: Gregg Allman, Jim Ed Brown, Ray Charles, Coasters, Bill
Cosby, Drifters, Frankie Ford, Larry Gatlin, Vince Gill, Lee Greenwood,
Clarence “Frogman” Henry, Brenda Lee, Loretta Lynn,
Louise Mandrell, Willie Nelson, New Christy Minstels, Dolly Parton,
Platters, Jerry Jeff Walker and Sheb Wooley. With that kind of experience,
a 500+ Songlist covering James Taylor to James Brown, and Latitude’s
own “Vacation Inspired” original tunes, it’s no
wonder that Latitude delivers an entertaining show with something
for EVERYONE!

Radisson Port Canaveral
Bon-Voyage Party - Friday April 13
We have arranged a park and cruise rate with the "Radisson
Resort at the Port" at Port Canaveral. This is a full-service
hotel and is the closest hotel to the port (5 minutes). The rate
is $149 per room for two people and includes parking and the shuttle
to the pier and back (save the $12/day parking fee at the port.)
The Bon Voyage Party will be held from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Friday
April 13. The party will be at the "Manatee Pond". If
it rains, we will move inside to the "Jamaica" room. There
will be a cash bar. Tom & Michelle will be present, but will
not sing. We currently have 79 people signed up for the hotel, so
this is a great chance to meet almost everyone who will be cruising
with you!! You do not have to sign up for the party, just show up!!
Margaritaville: Turks &
Caicos!
The Turks and Caicos are located southeast of the Bahamas. Splattered
throughout the Caribbean like a Jackson Pollock painting, the islands
cover 193 square miles of the Atlantic ocean, surrounded by a ribbon
of white sandy beaches bordering crystal clear water. Grand Turk
is the capital of Turks and Caicos, the financial center of the
islands, and is one of the main historical points of Turks and Caicos.
The most popular activity is exploring one of the longest coral
reefs in the world, and there are many dive operators and schools
for novice snorkelers to experienced divers.
Carnival Cruise Lines has leased 37 acres on the southern end of
the island to build a pier, a terminal, transportation center and
shops. The original plan to build in the center of the island was
scrapped due to environmental concerns and the desire to invade
as little as possible. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville is by far
the biggest structure at the cruise center, and at 17,000 square
feet, is the largest stand-alone Margaritaville Cafe in the Caribbean.
In addition to the retail shop and restaurant, a 3-foot deep, 500,000
gallon swimming pool winds it way throughout offering a swim up
bar, slide, and infinity edge view.
The entire area is professionally landscaped to give the feel of
a private island for cruise ship visitors, and is less than 100
yards from the crystal clear Caribbean. A few hundred yards offshore
the shallow water suddenly drops to 7000 feet offering a spectacular
view of the continental shelf wall for divers.
Terrestrial travelers may want to explore quaint, laid back Cockburn
Town. The administrative capital and the historic and cultural center
of the island that is reputed to have been one of the first that
Columbus set foot on in his first tour of the Caribbean over 500
years ago. The streets are lined with 18th and 19th century landmarks
that reflect the Bermudan style architecture. At the Turks and Caicos
National Museum you will find a central exhibit that tells the story
of the Molasses Reef Wreck, the oldest European shipwreck discovered
in the Western Hemisphere (dated around 1505). It also discloses
the rich cultural and natural diversity of the islands. Other historic
sites include the Lighthouse, Fire hill and the Hawks Nest Anchorage.
The Turks and Caicos government is striving to maintain the character
of the islands. There will be no noisy water sports such as jet
skis, and Carnival Cruise Lines has developed just 14 of the 37
acres it's leased, leaving the rest untouched. They want cruise
ship passengers to experience the authentic charm, while not becoming
problematic to the sensitive environment. With careful planning
and a variety of options, visitors can wander throughout the island
and enjoy the historic charm and unspoiled beauty of Grand Turk.
